most of us have been inundated by information about the extraordinary tragedy taking place in Haiti. If you are in the process of supporting relief efforts, you may already have selected an organization of choice. If not, below is a list of organizations that are fully engaged. Please note that numerous Extension folks have donated to Heifer International over the years, either through your churches, local schools, community agencies, afterschool programs, or the West Virginia 4-H Global Challenge begun by Doug Hovatter. Several current or past Extension workers have volunteered on mission trips there, providing agricultural assistance and education.

In addition, this is a teachable moment to educate those in our network about the country of Haiti. Below is a link to the World Factbook that you may find useful. It is one of many country profile sites available on the web.

Hey
This is an excellent show for all adults, especially parents and grandparents and older youth to watch. A bit long for kids but good none the less. Please share it with others! Thanks!
Katie Couric interviewed Jane Randel, Vice President of Corporate Communications, Liz Claiborne Inc. and Catherine Pierce, Deputy Director of the U.S. Justice Department’s Office on Violence Against Women for her new web show, @katiecouric. The interview focuses on teen dating violence and abuse and what parents need to know to protect their children. The segment also includes an interview with Ann Burke, our other MADE co-founder.
As a person interested in this issue, please watch this video and send this link out to as many people as you can. The more people who know about the realities of teen dating violence and abuse, and the need for education for both parents and teens, the safer our teens will be.
